About the SEG Gives Foundation

SEG Gives Foundation is the charitable arm of Southeastern Grocers Inc. (SEG), parent company of Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie stores. The SEG Gives Foundation aligns giving with causes that are priorities to the communities SEG serves, including the fight against hunger, support for military service members and their families, relief to those affected by extreme weather and natural disasters and championing belonging, inclusion and diversity by combating social injustice to bridge the gap of inequities faced by many individuals, families and communities. Southeastern Grocers strives to be ingrained in its communities and, through the SEG Gives Foundation, better the lives of its customers and neighbors.

Fighting Hunger

At Southeastern Grocers, feeding people is not only our business, it is our passion. We believe it is our responsibility to help families put food on the table, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting and nourishing our local communities. Since 2005, SEG and the SEG Gives Foundation have partnered with Feeding America®, the largest domestic hunger-relief charity in the United States, to fight food insecurity and help alleviate hunger in our communities. Through our partnership, we have contributed more than 265 million pounds of food through our Food Rescue Program. In 2023, we donated more than $560,000 and 13 million pounds of food to the organization, and we also hosted 25 mobile food pantry events to get nourishing food directly into the hands of neighbors in need. SEG continues to support neighbors by also giving back to local initiatives to nourish underserved communities across the Southeast.

Disaster Relief

As a grocer serving five coastal states in the Southeast, our communities have weathered many storms, and we know firsthand the devastation these catastrophic events leave in their wake. SEG and the SEG Gives Foundation have partnered with the American Red Cross for more than 70 years to help our neighbors recover and rebuild when disaster strikes. Over the lifetime of our partnership, we have given more than $11.9 million to support our community members in their greatest times of need. In 2023, we donated more than $460,000 to support emergency preparedness and disaster relief efforts, and we were proudly named the Northeast Florida American Red Cross Community Partner of the Year.

We also strive to get boots on the ground as quickly as possible following natural disasters to provide essential aid to neighbors affected by severe weather. Following devastating tornadoes devastating the historic city of Selma last year, we donated $100,000 to the United Way of Selma & Dallas County’s Disaster Relief Fund to help the vulnerable emerge stronger. Whether under blue skies or storm clouds, SEG is unwavering in our commitment to put people first, always.

Belonging, Inclusion & Diversity

SEG celebrates our diverse associates, customers and communities while cultivating an environment that champions inclusion and belonging within our company and the unique neighborhoods we serve. In 2023, we were certified as a Great Place to Work® for the fourth year in a row, and we also established a five-year Belonging, Inclusion and Diversity (BID) strategy with initiatives including enhancing our diverse interview panels and candidate pools, pay and promotion analysis, supplier program accessibility and more.

Our Romay Davis Belonging, Inclusion and Diversity Grant Program provides essential funding to organizations that equally support inclusivity and take meaningful action to help combat social injustice by bridging the gap of inequities faced by many individuals, families and communities. Since 2020, we have contributed more than $1 million, including $400,000 in 2023, to support local nonprofit organizations that address racial disparities in health care, food insecurity and education. The grant is named for Ms. Romay Davis who lived to age 104 and was a World War II veteran, inspiring trailblazer and our longtime associate. Organizations that operate within our footprint can apply for grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 to aid their vital work towards a more equitable world for all.
