Job Purpose

The Operations Effectiveness Manager is responsible for the implementation, improvement and sustainability of processes and procedures in assigned districts that will support the achievement of financial goals for availability and loss. This role will work in partnership with District Managers and individual stores to monitor, coach, and train all levels of associates to execute availability and loss programs and initiatives to drive profitable sales. The position will use intimate knowledge of store processes and procedures to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to regional leadership and Operational Excellence.


Essential Responsibilities

Loss Reduction

Manage the implementation and execution of loss processes in all assigned stores. Coach store leadership through proper processes and procedures to ensure the store's financial success. Monitor all stores and assess progress regularly through data analysis. Follow up with problematic stores and retrain associates as needed. Drive initiative acceptance by tailoring delivery of programs to individual stores. Use knowledge of store culture to facilitate change in the stores.


Sales Growth

Manage and support district stores’ execution of availability processes. Troubleshoot any underperforming stores by evaluating the stores’ adherence and commitment to processes and procedures. Coach and develop store associates to recognize the value added with regards to processes and procedures. Utilize district leadership to engage leadership to drive positive change in the stores. Engage with leadership to further company goals and strive to implement improved methodology across the district.


Coaching and Training

Coach and train store leadership on operation’s processes and procedures. Drive a fundamental understanding of practices to ensure the efficient functioning of all store departments. Analyze problem areas in stores and conduct additional training as needed. Conduct coaching and training for new store leadership to ensure success for the company. Foster a team atmosphere where store leadership values the team as a partner for store success. Coach and train all levels of associates as needed. Empower associates to discover and explore efficiency opportunities within their stores. 



Analyze and report various trends and opportunities to district and store leadership. Use quantitative data to plan and execute effective use of time by prioritizing all district stores’ needs. Review data analyses regularly with district leadership and provide actionable insights through the data. Extrapolate data to predict shifts in store trends and work with district leadership to effectively plan accordingly.

• Complete understanding of all store metrics, especially financial and labor metrics.

• Experience in a grocery retail environment.

• Ability to influence without authority.

Safety Risk Factors: The employee is frequently required to twist back and/or neck, walk on a slippery or cluttered floor surface, work with hazardous equipment and be exposed to sharp objects. The employee is occasionally required to be exposed to loud noise, skin irritants, nuisance dust, fumes and sprays, hazardous cleaning solutions and other toxins. Overall Required Equipment: cleaning supplies and equipment, general office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, various material handling equipment, such as racks, carts, pallet jacks, shopping carts Preferred Equipment: baler/compactor,box cutter Personal Protective Equipment: Goggles, Gloves, Back Brace Pulling Requirement: 250 lbs. Lifting Requirement: 20 lbs.
