Sr Consumer Insights Analyst



Job Purpose

The Senior Analyst for Consumer Insights provides insight for leaders across the company by creating, modifying, and producing ongoing report templates, dashboards, and other data visualizations. The role also collaborates with research specialist to take survey data points and tell a story with them, setting the standard for report layouts and visualizations to make the discovery of insights intuitive and clear. To be successful in this position, candidates should have experience in both creating and implementing changes to ongoing reports, along with an affinity for design and displaying information. This individual will also support the data strategy/innovation goals that will enable SEG's various analytics teams to drive efficiencies and capabilities. The person must be comfortable working with partners, conducting analyses, communicating insights and managing projects as they will act as a key advocate for the benefits data and analytics can drive throughout the organization.


Essential Responsibilities


% Of Time

Leverages customer information such as transactional sales data, market data and syndicated data to advise marketing strategies and achieve larger business objectives related to brand, merchandizing, new product development, competition & industry trends.


Collaborates across business functions such as marketing and merchandizing to understand their business questions. Recommends, leads and executes in-depth analyses, using and synthesizing disparate data sources. Translates data into actionable insights and conveys them in a clear and concise way to internal stakeholders.


Responsible for production and validation of ongoing reports generated from SQL, Alteryx and Excel report templates. Establishes standards for report and visualization designs. Owns and maintains/updates customer segmentation.


Proactively looks for new opportunities to leverage data across the business, and to integrate disparate datasources. Collaborates with other data & analytics departments to identify opportunities to streamline, innovate and enhance the current data analytics

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• 3+ years of analytical experience

• Experience with SQL and/or R programming languages

• Strong ability to problem solve and seek alternative solutions to job tasks; generate fresh ideas

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and business intelligence tools such as Alteryx, and familiarity with analytic software applications such as SAS and querying databases using SQL

• Insights and analytics functional expertise – ability to work with large data sets and established testing & evaluation practices

• Solid understanding and experience creating database-driven report templates and dashboards, as well as modifying existing report templates and dashboards.

• Highly collaborative team player who is focused, self-motivated, detail oriented, accurate, and flexible - able to quickly adapt to changing priorities and tight timelines.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred

• Desire to take proactive ownership of the accuracy and timeliness of reported data.

• Experience leading projects within an enterprise analytics team.

• Ability to mentor, teach, and assign tasks to junior team members in topics such as using SQL, report design, dashboard design, and related best practices.

• Demonstrated ability to quickly gain a conceptual understanding of a complex situation and establish immediate credibility.
