Job Purpose

Conduct accident investigations using various sources of information, all legal means necessary and within the framework of established department investigative policies and procedures.   This position is accountable for and measured on business and departmental goals in the areas of accident reduction and evidence preservation.  Incumbents must be able to conductcritical incident investigations timely and thoroughly and ensure those investigations are well documented. This includes using digital cctv to analyze safety risk factors while ensuring program conformance with applicable laws and regulations.

 

Responsibilities

1. Conduct accident investigations using various sources of information, all legal means necessary and within the framework of established department investigative policies and procedures.  Support stores by using digital cctv and conducting remote video Customer Accident investigations based off information obtained from the critical incident desk (CID), accident reports (APIN 2.0) requests from stores, the Asset Protection field team and/or Risk Management.  Upon receipt of any accident, the incumbent will contact stores telephonically, ensure all evidence requirements (witness statements, customer statements, digital photographs of accident scene, etc.) have been met, and properly uploaded into the report.  Comply with legal subpoena requests by remotely identifying, downloading and providing video.

 

 

2. Contact stores, to review accident causes and ensure case file is complete.  May consult with store on root cause analysis and ensure corrective action has taken place to prevent a reoccurrence. Rate and evaluate (through grading scale) the quality of the accident report, communicate this to the store along with recommendations for improvement. Identify potential safety risks and advise store management of preventative actions to be taken.

 

 

3. Escalate potentially fraudulent accidents following company established protocol; assist in the tracking and management of the case and continuously update information into the store accident report (APIN2.0) until the case is resolved.

 

 

4. May support AP department by conducting periodic surveillance of retail locations, distribution centers and office locations to help resolve or identify criminal activity. Provide crisis situation support through digital CCTV, communication and reporting while partnering with law enforcement when required.

 

 

5. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 


Qualifications

Education Required:

High School / GED

Course of Study:

Criminal justice, Business Administration

Education Preferred:

Bachelor's Degree

0 - 3 yrs minimum

·         Possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

·         Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

·         Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.

·         Ability to understand and follow English instructions.

·         Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.

·         Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.

·         Proficiency using data base systems (ex. Hyperion)

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex and detailed information to a diverse population.

·         Basic analytical, organizational and investigative skills.
