Job Purpose

Responsible for the execution of the pharmacy business development strategy including external relationship building, field sales activities, and business opportunity creation. Work with pharmacy leadership to establish and create the pharmacy dept business development strategy. Establish, utilize and maintain market and industry research regarding business performance, capabilities and partnership opportunities.

External Relationship Building and Business Development

Execute the pharmacy business strategy by creating, establishing and growing external relationships, developing and implementing new business opportunities and growing existing as well as new business through external sales efforts.

Strategy & Pharmacy Program Design

Actively contribute and collaborate with pharmacy leadership, support departments and operations to develop the pharmacy department business strategy and create programs that will increase healthcare offerings, prescriptions, sales, and profit while enhancing and producing a world class customer experience in our stores.  Aid in business negotiations to develop and deploy pharmacy programs as well as oversee the Grand Opening & Competitive Impact programs in stores.

Reporting & Analytics

Develop and implement business plan performance criteria and execution reporting with recommendations for improving customer count, transactions, loyalty and service excellence, store execution and financial results. Provide regular communication of results via reports, graphs, and charts demonstrating outcomes from business initiatives. Construct business cases for new pharmacy development and pharmacy acquisitions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• Complete understanding of retail pharmacy operations

• Experience with in-store clinical programs including MTM, Immunizations/Vaccinations, Health Screenings and Outliers including the development and execution of strategies/training programs

• Strong negotiation skills

• Expert data analysis skills with regards to interpreting and identifying trends in use and the marketplace from an industry perspective

• Ability and experience in developing and implementing business plans and marketing strategies, including direct marketing activities, that expand and diversify business

• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and departments

• Proficiency in leading, motivating and executing to accomplish business objectives

• Ability to direct and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously to drive solutions that meet or surpass business expectations and delivery project milestones on-time and within budget.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex and detailed information to a diverse population

• Superior analytical, problem solving, planning, organization, decision-making, project management skills, and budget/expense control

• Experience developing and implementing multi-faceted communications programs

• Experience with digital, social media and traditional marketing practices including brand consistency, evolution and advancement

• Pharm D, MBA/Business degree preferred

• Experience implementing day-to-day public/media relations support, reputation enhancement, and external communications campaigns

Pharmacy: Physical Demands: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk on tile or concrete, utilize manual dexterity, talk, see, hear, smell and perform repetitive movements with both hands. The employee is occasionally required to reach at waist level or overhead. The employee is occasionally required to sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb up to 4 ft. Working Conditions: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee will be working in indoors. Safety Risk Factors: The employee is frequently required to twist back and/or neck, walk on a slippery or cluttered floor surface, work with hazardous equipment and be exposed to sharp objects. The employee is occasionally required to be exposed to loud noise, skin irritants, nuisance dust, fumes and sprays, hazardous cleaning solutions and other toxins Overall Required Equipment: a personal computer, telephone, printer, copy machine, fax machine and other general office supplies and equipment.
