Pharmacy Audit Training Specialist II



Job Purpose

This role will be responsible for developing training plans and materials for our PDMs and retail pharmacy associates related to third party prescription billing and processing and the auditing thereof. Work directly with the operation leadership and managed care team to mitigate any recoupments and chargebacks related to audits. Coordinate with pharmacy support teams and store team members to identify and improve processes and guidelines to assure full compliance and execution. And other duties as directed by the Director of Systems and Training.   


Essential Responsibilities

Managed Care Audit Mitigation

Work directly with PDMS and Pharmacy store operations to develop training plans to coach teams on ways to streamline processes and avoid failed audits. This training will include the documentation needed for proper and complete prescription filling. This role will work with retail operations to identify, improve, and implement changes to prescription documentation and handling that complies with all Managed Care contracts.  


Standard Operating Procedures

Work directly with PDMS and pharmacy store operations to ensure that all stores are aware of and properly trained on SOPs relating to accurate filling and storage of prescriptions. Also training pharmacy teams on understanding system edits and prompts relating to audit mitigation. This positon will train pharmacy on how to maximize the reporting received on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and suggest modifications and new reporting as necessary to obtain improvements in targeted areas.


Audit Preparation

Ensure that Pharmacy teams are trained on the correct way to prepare for and respond to an onsite or desktop audit to reduce or eliminate third party pullbacks.



Work collaboratively with the operations and managed care teams ensuring strong communication between the teams

Bachelor's Degree or 4 Yrs Relevant Experience

• Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician

• Ability to communicate and coordinate multiple processes simultaneously to achieve solutions/results that meet business requirements.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey pharmacy business needs to varied audiences including management, support team and store operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred

• Experienced Retail Certified pharmacy technician with a Bachelor’s degree.

Pharmacy: Physical Demands: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk on tile or concrete, utilize manual dexterity, talk, see, hear, smell and perform repetitive movements with both hands. The employee is occasionally required to reach at waist level or overhead. The employee is occasionally required to sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb up to 4 ft. Working Conditions: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee will be working in indoors. Safety Risk Factors: The employee is frequently required to twist back and/or neck, walk on a slippery or cluttered floor surface, work with hazardous equipment and be exposed to sharp objects. The employee is occasionally required to be exposed to loud noise, skin irritants, nuisance dust, fumes and sprays, hazardous cleaning solutions and other toxins Overall Required Equipment: a personal computer, telephone, printer, copy machine, fax machine and other general office supplies and equipment. Preferred Equipment: Shopping carts, unicarts, case cutters, bagging supplies and cleaning supplies and equipment. Pulling Requirement: 100 lbs. Lifting Requirement: 30 lbs.
