                     Director, Sales Planning & Circular

 

 

Job Purpose

Accountable for providing oversight and direction regarding sales planning, sales promotion events and circular production. This role will serve as the subject matter expert for development and delivery of a sales plan which is relevant for customers by banner, region and local market. This role provides a framework for the marketing and merchant teams to collaborate in developing the plan and in providing the tactical implementation guidance for the operations teams.

 

Responsibilities

1. Strategy

Provide oversight and direction to deliver a strategic seasonal sales plan that supports the company’s goals to build one to one relationships with our customers. Lead the merchant and marketing teams in plan development, to include guardrails around the PGSB approach that are relevant for customers by banner, region and local market.

 

 

2. Sales Planning

Define and deliver end to end sales planning processes from insights to execution, engaging all stakeholders across the business.  Institute best practices that will deliver a clear and concise outcome that is customer centric, while creating streamlined and efficient processes throughout the organization.

 

 

3. Channel Activation

Lead the merchant and marketing teams to develop, design and deploy best in class circulars each week.  Ensure that all sales and marketing activities, across all channels, from media to signage, are delivered on time, on message while optimizing budget to drive company sales performance.

 

 

4. Vendor Engagement

Collaborate with the merchant teams and supplier partners to develop programs that resonate with our customers.  Partner with key stakeholders to ensure successful development of additional programs which will lead to ancillary revenue.

 

 

5. Leadership

Lead, inspire, manage, and mentor direct reports and broader marketing team to maximize their individual potential and professional growth, as well as the ability to function effectively as a team.  Champion SEG as a great place to work.  Cultivate an environment of teamwork, openness, creativity, and continuous improvement.

Education Required:

Bachelor's Degree

Course of Study:

Business Administration or related field

Education Preferred:

Master's Degree

Relevant Experience:

10+ yrs minimum

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Demonstrated strong PC skills including working knowledge and proficiency with the primary Microsoft Office applications with a particular emphasis on Excel and other advanced data management techniques.  Strong problem solving skills, including problem analysis, decision making, creativity and innovation.  Proven ability to interpret data and express the implications of analyses.  Ability to set priorities, plan and coordinate work activities and manage time and resources to accomplish work objectives on time.  Excellent communication skills both verbal and written including the ability to address diverse audiences in a clear and concise manner.

Results-oriented with ability to maintain a high level of work activity under a variety of conditions.  Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.  Strong interpersonal skills with experience in relationship building and conflict resolution to develop and maintain positive working relationships with peers, management, suppliers and other company departments.  Experience utilizing teamwork skills to create and maintain a cooperative work environment and resolve conflicts.  Ability to persuade internal and external customers to commit to specific courses of action.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred:

Proven experience with pricing systems and tools.  Experience with process development and continuous improvement.  Master’s degree in Business or Marketing.
