Shrink Strategy & Design Director


Job Purpose

Responsible for delivering the company's shrink financial goals through efficient strategy and process design. Provide analytics, strategy and leadership in the development and deployment of strategies to exceed fresh, center store and replenishment budgets to support this goal. This position will be responsible and accountable for the shrink budget by working cross functionally to lead and influence business partners for successful and sustainable deployment of strategies.


Essential Responsibilities

Analytics and Insights:
Utilize existing data from Hyperion and BPC to identify key opportunities within item or category shrink trends. Leverage those insights for development of actions and processes to drive improvement such as developing comprehensive measurements for financial improvement and creating procedures for compliance auditing. Ensures that action plans have a change management process in place to ensure actionable items can be carried out.


Strategy and Planning:
Collaborate with all areas of the business from comprehensive store visits to understand existing store operations and identify trends or opportunities for improvement regarding shrink to understanding how Finance captures shrink metrics. Evaluate current geographic and economic factors that drive financials, merchandising and shrink metrics to gain additional perspective on shrink issues and identify trends. Apply best practices to develop strategies and actions to proactively address and correct shrink drivers across all business channels (Operations, Space Planning, Merchandising, Demand Planning). Responsible for development of plans that will achieve current shrink plans, and provide a three to five year roadmap of year over year improvement.  


Program Management:
Design and lead the development, planning, communication, and launch of all programs and strategies addressing shrink opportunities. Work cross functionally with business partners to gain alignment on strategies and actions. Responsible for managing the programs for successful completion and sustainability. Ensures that implementation partners are properly trained on all aspects of new programs in order to efficiently support the stores.


Tracking and Measurement:
Continuously monitor and track progress of the business strategies. Provide visibility of actions and financial progress to plan. Provide course correction if plans or financials are not on target and rally support by business partners to change processes as needed.

Bachelor's Degree

Bachelor's Degree or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

• Strong financial and analytical background.

• Strategic thinker.

• Strong knowledge and proven success in utilizing methodologies to design programs that will reduce shrink.

• Strong persuasion and influential skills in order to collaborate with cross functional teams.

• Strong change management background.

• Intermediate to advanced experience with Hyperion and BPC software
