Provides leadership, coaching and direction to the retail facility construction and office services teams, working both at SSC and in the field.
Leads all aspects of the construction process for all store and office facility construction (new, remodel, and capital improvements) including the creation and implementation of a construction strategy (e.g. bid vs. negotiated work, design-build).
Develops relationships with key stakeholders in all functional areas of company to coordinate new store and remodel construction activities, store turnover and opening dates and store promotion objectives.
Establishes and maintains relationships with developers, architects, engineers, general contractors and equipment vendors. Develop and maintain a network of pre-qualified construction contractors in all operating areas to ensure best-practices and competitive bidding for all projects. Negotiates vendor agreements when required to ensure contract compliance and manage relationships.
Collaborates with Real Estate teams to determine feasibility for development of new store locations and budget estimates.
Collaborates with Store Design to ensure designs meet company and landlord criteria and that construction documents comply with architectural standards, building codes and health and safety regulations. Assists Design Department with preparation and updates to prototype plan development, including feasibility analysis, material selections and construction means and methods.
Maintains construction status and projected store opening/promotion reports. Coordinates construction contract administration activities, change order processing and pay application processing for all construction projects. Processes capital budget expenditure requests. Manages overall Store Development CapEx and FF&E budget and spend.
Conducts periodic store visits to provide mentoring to associates and to ensure construction work is in compliance with company standards for time, cost and quality. Provides clear and frequent communication updates to project stakeholders on the status of on-going construction activities. Drives continuous improvement through review of processes, execution, and results.
