Job Title: Systems Engineer III
Location: IT

Position Overview
The systems engineer III is responsible for leading the design, implementation, modification and maintenance of complex technical environments, networks and/or operating systems. This position writes complex code and/or configures and designs complex environments in which the hardware, network and/or software resides.
Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Mentor, guide and educate less experienced engineers and other IT team members.
  • Recommend technical standards and guidelines for respective environments.
  • Manage complex assignments and potentially lead a team of system engineers.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose highly complex technical environments, networks, operating systems, etc.
  • Interact with architects, senior application developers as well as other relevant leaders.
  • Design technical environments and develop technical programs with a high degree of independence.
  • Lead the planning, design and implementation of projects and new equipment and applications.
  • Install, configure and support technical components such as operating systems, network equipment and software, middleware components and/or application frameworks.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all hardware and software settings required by the technical environment including proper configuration settings.
  • Develop scripts for backup/recovery, performance/diagnostics and set-up/administration of DEV, TEST, QA and PROD environments.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot performance and/or configuration problems.
  • Understand performance implications of hardware/network/software environments.
  • Assist application teams in diagnosing and understanding technical vs. application problems.
  • Design, code and test operating systems, network equipment and software, middleware components and/or application frameworks.
  • Support failover and clustered environments.
  • Set and observe all technical and architectural standards as previously developed.
  • Ensure team member adherence to all established architectural and technical standards.
  • Perform software pricing and/or product analysis as directed.
  • Respond to systems performance problems.
  • Build and maintain positive rapport and partnerships with peers and other relevant team members including IT operations and application development staff.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.



Demonstrated Azure Cloud advanced level experience.  Demonstrated advanced enterprise level experience with and understanding of Windows core infrastructure including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Web Services, File and Print Services, LDAP, Kerberos, etc.  Demonstrated proficiency in a wide range of Microsoft systems (Exchange/Office 365, Windows Server 2008-2019, IIS, Sharepoint, MS System Center Suite, SQL Server, Microsoft Clustering).  Fluent in Powershell scripting.  Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the following: PowerShell scripting, Hypervisors VMware, Xenserver and/or Hyper-V, application servers (IIS, WAS, JBoss, Apache), platforms (Microsoft, Linux, Rancher, Suse, Kubernetes, Citrix/Terminal Services and VDI), databases (SQL Server, MySql, Oracle, UDB, DB2,). Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Single-Sign-On and/or Federated Services.


Demonstrated experience supporting desktops/laptops in a corporate environment.  Demonstrated proficiency in supporting MS operating systems (Windows 7 and Windows 10), common PC applications (MS Office, Adobe, Antivirus tools, etc.) and desktop, laptop and printer hardware.  Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of PC image creation and deployment processes and Microsoft SCCM. This position writes complex powershell scripts.


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Six (6) years of systems engineering or related IT experience.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
  • Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
  • Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
  • Seasoned systems engineer with considerable proficiency in designing and configuring technical environments.
